Which status of 8800 dx10 graphics card should I procure?

320mb, 640mb, or 768mb verisons.

Or would you reconmend a different verison?

Which status of 8800 dx10 graphics card should I procure?

It depends on resolution and power supply. the 768mb is truly a different card, the gtx, but it isn't worth it. The 320 gts is fine on resolutions up to and including 1920 x 1200, which is probably way superior than your monitor. The 8800 gts requires a 400 watt psu with a +12v guardrail at 28 amps, and the 8800gtx requires 450 watts, but idk about the guiderail. And these are the only 3 dx10 cards, so in that are no other versions. Get the xfx 8800gts 320mb near the 560 core clock and 1700 memory clock for $290 after rebate on newegg.com. It comes with GRAW and CoD2 for free! Don't do what the other guy said. It will wrapping up up costing you just as much but for more to do that, as you have to clear for the geforce 7 cards, then the 8 cards for a moment or two less. And sli (dual cards) sucks. Performance gain range from 30% to 80%, which is not worth the cost of two cards, an sli motherboard, and an sli power supply. And newegg is the BEST. PERIOD. They are extremely cheap and reliable.
The 8800's are really coming down within price. The longer you wait the better importance you willl get. There are not heaps DirectX10 games out yet 1? You might want to pickup a twosome of 7900 or 7950s for SLI then upgrade to an 8800 within 6months to a year when there are bettter drivers and games. You can find moral prices here:

If you just can't hang around!
