Interview near somebody - they'll probably give you one free. I enjoy more mouse pads than I can count from contracting firms I've deal with!
I hold found that a cheap optical mouse is far superior and would never go spinal column. They had them for $15 Australian ($12US) surrounded by a bargain shop: I bought 2. It is one of the few things I would buy secondhand, from Cash Converters, etc., as they enjoy no moving ball.
