Where would be the best place to buy knock against for my computer?

I currently enjoy 512mb of RAM in 2 slots, and I want to upgrade to 1gb of knock against (ie 2x 512 instead of 2x256)

1) Where would be the cheapest and most reliable place?

2) Do you have a rough perception how much this would be?

Where would be the best place to buy knock against for my computer?

don't know if u live in uk but for an online shop u might want to try ebuyer.com. u capture reviews from people who own bought the stuff
Best Buy or stores like it big manacle tech stores i wouldent go for a local Comp. Store and best buy will even install it :D

(After i saw it be dell I personally would see in the region of Dell Upgrading it for you...)
go to pricewatch.com...they compare prices on adjectives hardware and software..great site

You don't want to skimp on RAM quality
Avoid PNY approaching the plague. Best Buy and Staples sell it by the truckload and push it close to its good. Kbyte is OK believe it or not. Kingston is moral. If you want the best of the best order Crucial RAM online.

I would avoid mom and pop shops. A lot of times they hold no ESD protection and sell RAM thats lay around
bestbuy.com but you would need to know if it is ddr2 or not it will run you give or take a few 160$.
Dell Dimension 3000 has DDR bump, unless you change the motherboard. You can find DDR strike at an ideal online store www.newegg.com, www.tigerdirect.com, www.zipzoomfly.com, www.mwave.com, etc. They will cost around 80-130 for your 2x512mb depending on the brand and level.
